Don't Bring COVID-19 Home!

Take it from us, COVID-19 sucks. You don't want to get this disease. You don't want to give it to your family, your neighbors, your colleagues. Here are some tips to prevent transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus between work and home.

Going to work:

  • Leave your wallet. Carry ID, Metrocard, a little cash and use ApplePay as much as possible.

  • Shoes: choose a pair of shoes to wear only at the hospital. (bring a plastic bag for post-shift)

  • Clothes: Wear clean clothes to work. Change into your scrubs at work. (have a plastic bag for dirty scrubs post-shift)

  • Wear a mask traveling to and from work.

Coming home from work:

Before leaving the hospital:

  • Disinfect prior to leaving the hospital - wipe down anything and everything you possibly can with a disinfecting wipe. *don't forget your work shoes*

  • Change out of your scrubs and work shoes and into your clean clothes after your shift. Store dirty scrubs plastic bag.

  • Change from work shoes to home shoes. Place work shoes in a plastic bag.

  • Wash your hands a minimum of 20 seconds frequently all day long and also as the last thing you do before you walk out of the hospital doors.

When you arrive at home:

  • Create a “hot zone” just inside the door of your apartment. Work shoes, work bag, dirty scrubs all stay in that area. Use a washable laundry bag for dirty scrubs.

  • Keep hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes/spray in the hot zone. After unpacking your work bag, clean any surfaces you have touched and then clean your hands with hand sanitizer.

  • Shower ASAP and put on new clean clothes. Now you are free to enjoy your time at home!
